As a dark-skinned man with a Muslim first name who lives in Germany I am taking this as a personal attack. Which is exactly what these racist monsters intend. This speech is designed to escalate mob violence against us. Nothing less. To everyone who said we were exaggerating, shame on you.

The exponential decline of BBC is such a depressing spectacle. It needs a clear out of senior management - and the likes of Mason and Kuenssberg.

So now we know what the BBC reporting strategy on Trump will be for the next 4 years: “President Trump said [insert latest outrageous /ludicrous/insulting/inflammatory statement] without evidence” No challenge.

Pretty obvious to most BBC licencepayers that much of its news operation has been captured by the same forces of the extreme Right, yet no one in the Labour government seems to have noticed.

Media needs to find a way of reporting Trump’s reality as opposed to reality. Here he is apportioning blame to individuals who are not to blame. This is Orwellian. #r4today #Washington

Trump's performance was grotesque, breaking with all norms of decency. In choosing to describe it as 'combative', BBC plays its part in the normalisation of evil.

"We need to do our best, as Trump and his allies do their worst." Important also to keep remembering or creating a politics where leaders invite citizens to be and do their best, in an imperfect world, rather than reveling in conduct that should be reviled and celebrating the worst of human nature.

The orchestrated chorus of mediocrities predictably chanting about DEI is the best living argument for DEI one could find. I hope the Democrats have forceful people in front of cameras, angrily and loudly calling out these lies, shaming them, and explaining what the administration is doing, and why.

The blizzard of executive orders aims to project power, and sow confusion and conflict in the opposition (what to do! who comes first!). One goal should be to ensure that chaos lands and opens fissures among the issuers of these orders, as it will, not their targets. Let the arrows turn back on them
In the legend of St Michael the Archangel, conqueror of Lucifer we should remember, a rich herdsman is angered that one of his bulls strayed and wandered into a cave on Monte Gargano. In his rage, the herdsman shot the bull with a poison arrow, but the arrow turned on him and killed him. His thugs in fancy tights followed suit. Maybe you can spot one of those arrows making a U-turn (like a fishhook in flight). The haloed bull seems quite content. The archangel explained the miracle to a bishop, and the sacred shrine of Monte Sant'Angelo was born. The small painting you see (the five well-dressed men at left, two shooting arrows and the bull---their target---resting comfortably in a mountaintop cave) is a predella panel by Sienese painter, Sano di Pietro (Pinacoteca Nazionale, Siena).
