A quick update on @runforsomething.net endorsement criteria for 2027 & beyond (!!): With millennials getting older, we're expanding our age limits to anyone born in 1981 or after (as opposed to a hard cap at 40.)
For 10 years, Run for Something has been committed to recruiting and supporting the next generation of local leaders. In the beginning, our age requirement for receiving an endorsement included the vast majority of potential millennial and Gen Z candidates. But as we’ve all grown older, it’s time to expand that age criteria, especially as many of us across generations still continue to face the same challenges: student debt, climate instability, and rising prices. We also know that there are real world barriers that delay many from running for office – especially for women and people of color.
Because of this, today we’re excited to share that Run for Something will now consider candidates for endorsements who were born in 1981 or later – to include anyone millennial and Gen Z. This update also applies to the resources and mentorship programs for prospective candidates in our RFS Community previously available to only those under 40.

As we update our eligibility guidelines to be more equitable and inclusive, our mission remains unchanged. We are committed more than ever to recruiting and supporting young candidates, and first-time candidates in particular, who power change in their communities and build the bench for the next generation of candidates ready for higher office.

😳 The fraternity’s own paperwork designated Jonathan Newell as a trained event monitor, someone entrusted with keeping people safe, while he stands accused of conduct that allegedly put a woman in danger. Even more disturbing: reports say he is at NSU, enrolled in its medical program. Horrifying.
At the Chi Phi party where Jane Doe was assaulted, the frat listed Jonathan Newell as a
"trained event monitor" - one of the sober students responsible for keeping people safe.
Instead, Newell allegedly pressured her into taking ketamine, r*ped her, repeatedly slapped her and posted the "free p***y" group message.
R*pe culture is a world where this man is in charge of keeping women safe.

Democrats are pushing to win power in state legislatures across the country, forcing Republicans to play defense. They could break up full GOP control in as many as six states and win unified control in as many as seven of their own, a Post analysis found. wapo.st/4AVFpT0
An infographic depicting potential Democrat gains in state legislatures, highlighting Minnesota, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. Each state lists current party control and potential shifts in the governor's office and house/assembly. Minnesota: Democratic governor, house/assembly 67D-67R with potential Democratic gain of 1-10 for control. Nevada: Republican governor, house 13D-8R with Democratic gain needed to flip. Pennsylvania: Democratic governor, house 23D-27R with 3D to flip. The Washington Post is credited.

British billionaire warned Epstein was a ‘sexual deviant’ decades before FBI closed in on the abuser
Sir James Goldsmith’s links to Hilton Head, South Carolina, adds to mystery of Jane Doe 4, who claimed she was abused by Epstein in the 1980s For Jeffrey Epstein, the billionaire Goldsmith family was a gateway to elite society and he wanted to be in their circle. The disgraced financier, who died in prison in 2019 facing sex-trafficking charges, longed for a billionaire’s lifestyle and cultivated the family’s friends, bankers, business associates and advisers. Cornell does, after all, have a distinguished tradition of producing leaders: governors, members of Congress, CEOs, Nobel laureates, people entrusted with decisions affecting millions of lives. Perhaps leadership could begin with one. Before teaching young men how to run the world, teach them what to do when the world is one room, one woman, one terrible thing happening, and nobody wants to be the first man to ruin the evening.
