Pope Leo XIV celebrated Mass with an estimated 800,000 people in Paris on Saturday, after spending the morning with migrants, the poor, and adults newly entering the Catholic Church. “For Christians,” he added, “the poor are not a sociological category, but the very ‘flesh’ of Christ.”

“No one is so poor as to have nothing to give.” Before Mass, the pope sat with migrants and told catechists to respect each person’s pace. Six altar servers with Down syndrome served his Mass.

Four versions of the Edmonton city skyline from roughly the same spot.
The image presents a dramatic cityscape at sunset, showcasing a blend of natural beauty and urban architecture. The sky is ablaze with fiery hues of orange, red, and yellow, streaked across the upper portion of the frame, creating a vivid and dynamic atmosphere. Below the horizon, a city skyline emerges, characterized by a collection of buildings of varying heights, their silhouettes sharply defined against the glowing sky. The city appears to be nestled in a valley, with a winding river flowing through the lower portion of the scene. The river reflects the colors of the sky, adding depth and vibrancy to the composition. The foreground consists of a densely wooded area, with trees and vegetation in dark tones, providing a stark contrast to the illuminated skyline and sky. The lighting emphasizes the contrast between the dark foreground and the bright sky, creating a sense of depth and dimension. The overall mood is awe-inspiring and serene, capturing the transient beauty of a sunset over an urban landscape. There are approximately 20 buildings visible in the skyline, ranging from low-rise structures to taller skyscrapers, indicating a sizable city. The trees in the foreground create a textured barrier between the viewer and the city, adding a sense of distance and perspective. The scene exudes a sense of tranquility despite the vibrant colors and urban setting, inviting contemplation and appreciation of the natural and built environments. The image captures a cityscape silhouetted against a vibrant sky during what appears to be either sunrise or sunset. The sky transitions from a deep blue at the top to a warm golden hue near the horizon, where the sun's presence is suggested by the bright glow. Wisps of high-altitude clouds streak across the sky, adding texture and depth to the atmospheric scene. The city skyline is composed of various buildings, with a few taller structures standing out against the lighter sky. The buildings are dark and lack detail due to the backlighting, which emphasizes their shapes rather than their textures. The riverbanks are lined with dense trees, their foliage displaying autumn colors, ranging from dark greens to browns. The city skyline is composed of various high-rise buildings, with several prominent skyscrapers punctuating the skyline. The buildings vary in color and architectural style, adding visual interest to the urban landscape. Albertans narrowly rejected permanent daylight saving time in a 2021 referendum. But today Premier Danielle Smith revealed the province *is* going ahead with it anyway. Opposition in the referendum was strongest in the biggest cities, while support was stronger in smaller towns and rural areas.
Calgary and Edmonton drove the the 'No' vote in Alberta's 2021 referendum on permanent daylight savings

The question — Do you want Alberta to adopt year-round Daylight Saving Time, which is summer hours, eliminating the need to change our clocks twice a year? — was narrowly defeated by a vote of 50.2% to 49.8% provincewide. But the vote breakdown varied by geography.
