A slide with a white background and two images in polaroid style frames labeled "craftober day 1" the top frame is labeled EPP crown tile quilt and had an image of my hand holding together yellow and teal pieces of fabric in order to stitch them together. The bottom frame has a quilt laid on a table, it has a black bear made up of hexagons on a background of stylized grass and sky. Markings have been added to guide the quilting lines

Gonna do a thread highlighting some of the sewing patterns released in September - sourced from the threadloop pattern search, only considering patterns with sizing that goes up to at least a 60" hip.

Let's fix that. The first three are an omnibus now, so it's easy to get started without feeling like an ATM. The Waverly Jones books are delightful. Our times aware, ACAB, character forward mysteries for the angry. If you yearn for justice but you live in the bad timeline, these are for you.

Little reminder that there's no such thing as machine made clothes. Every garment you have ever worn and likely ever will wear, was made with human hands operating simple machines. Every single one. The technology of textile industry has actually changed very little in the last century.

I recently realized that I hadn't actually appliqued my EPP bear to the background on my bear! quilt, so this evening I started hand appliquing all around the perimeter. #quiltsky #FatBearWeek2026
The quilt laid out over my desk, it is a black bear made up of tiny hexagons on a background of blue sky and green grassA close up of the bear's foot on the patchwork grass and showing the needle and thread passing through the fabric.

Pay attention Dems. Gov Beshear won twice, in a deep red state, and never threw trans people under the bus. He led with compassion rather than the fear and cowardice we've seen from some of our Ohio candidates and party leadership.

My evening went so nicely: had dinner I can't eat with the allergic boys, bath and skincare, walkies, ice cream, and then three separate craft projects while I watched what if man large. Self cared the heck out of my Sunday evening and now I'm going to bed at a reasonable time.

I bought the fingerless compression gloves with grippies for machine quilting and now I'm mad I didn't also get a gripless pair for other hand activities, they are so much nicer than my boring amazon compression gloves. Next paycheck I will solve this problem.

An ancient and magical amber bear 🐻 ✨ Carved some 10,000 years ago, it washed up on a beach at Fanø in Denmark from a submerged Mesolithic settlement under the North Sea. National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen 📷 by me #Archaeology
My photo shows a small and ancient figurine of an amber bear carved some 10,000 years ago during the Danish Mesolithic period. The museum lighting makes the amber glow translucent orange against a dark display case background. The bear is displayed on a small metal stand viewed in profile facing right. The ears, muzzle, and mouth are defined. The neck has a polished groove suggesting it was once suspended on a cord. The characteristic shoulder hump of a brown bear is clearly defined. There are some finely incised horizontal lines along the belly. The legs are incomplete. Length 6.5cm. Amber has many properties which may have been associated with 'magic' for ancient peoples. For example, when rubbed against fur, amber produces static electricity which can give off sparks in the dark, make hair stand on end, and attract small things towards it.
The bear was found in 1991 on a west coast beach of the Danish North Sea island of Fanø. It is one of a small number of amber animal figurines from the Baltic Sea region which have been assigned to the Mesolithic period by means of a typo-chronological approach and /or other contextual information.

The garden got away from me to an embarrassing degree this year (every year). Tall grasses just absolutely took over.
An image of a deck and raised garden bed engulfed in 7 foot grasses The same raised bed and deck revealed, with a good amount of blooming basil for the pollenators to enjoy and a better view of the dozen half barrel pits full of tomatoes.

Happy first day of fall!! Did you know that fall is, perhaps counterintuitively, a great time to plant things? It gives the plant time to establish their roots in the soil so that next spring they can shoot out of the soil confident in the ground they’re in. Be a good witch and cast summon bug 🪲

Breaking down some shirts to harvest the fabric and i love this print so I don't mind as much that it's got darts and taking out darts always leaves some scars on the fabric.
