I'm over the moon with this outcome. This mom has been here for ten years, waiting. In that time, she had three children—all Canadian citizens. If removed, three young Canadian children could have been left in care for the rest of their childhoods.

At youthcourt. Two referrals today. One from a grandmother. I helped her daughter in 2009. Now her grandchild is struggling. The grandchild is also a teen mother. So yeah. Needing lots of support. The second referral was from a Justice(Judge), to help a mom working at getting her children back.

1/ Always so nice to meet kind-hearted people who support the work we do. Today, I met a husband and wife who donated their used Chromebook to Coaltion4jhr.org. That Chromebook will now go to a child who otherwise wouldn’t have the means to get one.

1/ Meet a young man at #yeg Remand Centre. Has been there for 7 months. His charges are, of course, serious, as are any, but drug-related, no violence. He can't read, is on AISH, and his lawyer has set them for trial(Next year).

My issue is that Hope Mission is a Christian org. that pushes its religious beliefs on vulnerable people, including faith-based programming as part of its in-house recovery programs. Vulnerable people should be able to access essential supports without religion attached. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Off to see a 12yr old youth at the Edmonton Young Offender Centre. At that age, and in custody, obviously there is something systemic, either environmental or organic, which is causing this sort of behaviour.

I am helping a new mother, still a youth herself and her young brother. Their dad and brother died tragically last month. Setting up grief counselling. They have no means. Does anybody know of a low cost vet for thier kitten to get needles, neutered? He's so important to them right now.

1/I took a young woman to the emergency room yesterday. She had three fractured fingers, a fractured wrist, a fractured orbital bone, and a concussion. As we waited in emerg, her partner called and begged her not to speak to the police. And that he's sorry and it won't happen again.

Youth Court this Friday morning, assisting a 12-year-old in custody. He has spent most of his life involved with Children’s Services. That history helps us begin to understand the underlying issues that can bring a child into conflict with the law.

I'm working with a 12 yr girl from Nunavut. Thousands of km away from family, she lives in group care due to the effects of colonialism & organic factors. She cannot safely remain with family/community, resulting in highly intrusive intervention & placed in care far from home.

Supporting a 16yr boy who was involved in an accident where there was a fatality. He is traumatized. This wasn't malicious, and yet, with these sorts of events, guilt, confusion, fear, and suicidal ideation come into play.

Helping a daughter whose mother is hospitalized. Mom has dementia, and the doctors are refusing to feed her and "let nature take its course." Daughter states mom still has quality of life, smiles, interacts, and the doctor's decision is based on their inability to assess due to mom's lack of speech
