@dracos.co.uk Hi, I have another query about the split.traintimes result I got! Off peak, BHM->CDF via AGV, £78.20 reduces to £53.60 by splitting at CWM; COV->CDF via AGV, £82.70 but only reduces to £72.20 with the same split, and doesn't split at BHM (which is what I will do). Why no BHM split?

People who do this and similar, after being prosecuted for vandalism, should be forced to attend a basic science course, akin to the speed awareness course for drivers.

The Cinema Museum still needs help to secure their premises; there's a donor who, all this bank holiday weekend, is going to match donations, so if you haven't given yet, throw in a bit now, and claim gift aid so it can do the most good!

Post a picture that should be an album cover.
A neglected sourdough starter, flaunting moulds of fabulous colours, predominantly orange, green, and blue.
There are famously no colour clashes in nature, but this comes close.

From the Stedelijk Museum yesterday: In the World But Don't Know the World (2009) by Ghanaian artist El Anatsui. Made entirely out of bottle caps strung together with copper wire. (I feel like a rube. Hey, look at these nifty Newmans and Motherwells! Nah, I like the one made out of bottle caps.)

I know you all hate the emergency alert about disposable barbeques. But yesterday I watched a man at our hotel breakfast set fire to a toaster by trying to toast a croissant - despite multiple signs telling him not to. Today he tried again. So, you know, calibrate for the average person.

This is a triggering image of a museum display in the natural history museum in DC about life before smartphones. Me and a fellow 40+ person were laughing at how we are now LITERAL MUSEUM PIECES. MY teen was like did you have a clear phone? An address book? A book of maps. Yes, yes I did. 🫠🫠🫠

I work with disabled students (who usually need serious medical proof), mostly aged 18-22ish but some older. I lose track of how many refuse to use a mobility aid that might help reduce pain, fatigue, damage to their body because of stigmatising badness like that from Kathleen Stock today.

So a masculinist understanding of notetaking would think a transcription app is the same as taking notes. That’s why they think an AI transcript is a time-saver. They think the notes are the thinking because when a human takes the notes, it is.

I keep thinking there needs to be a network that somehow helps authors to do the promotional stuff, now that publishers don't and that social networks are losing traction. Like... I don't know. Help making plans, and practical help with whatever needs doing. Do we have that?
