So uhhhhhh… Apparently meta's muse "AI" is just straight up doxxing people to strangers on FB marketplace??? This has the potential to hurt so so many people, and I genuinely wonder how long before they roll out a fix for it.
Screenshot of a post from threads

matt.j.robb & 16h (€) So muse handled my Facebook marketplace today. Just found out it told people my address and agreed a lowball price and then they showed up without it even telling me until late tonight that it messed up.

Absolutely wild. 1/2

[Embedded image of a series of text messages from a meta muse "agent" given the call sign "Jarvis" (Parts of first message obscured by its logo have been replaced with brackets and ellipses and best guesses from context):]

Heads up, Usman is […] building right now for the MX Keys Mini [. He is sta]nding in front of the Shoppers Drug [Mart.]

$10 by e-transfer. The auto-reply told him to message when he's at your door.

10:28 PM Bad news on the MX Keys Mini pickup. Usman showed up at your building around 9:15 and waited, messaged a bunch of times, and nobody came down. He left angry at 9:38 and left a negative rating.

Worse, my auto-reply told him "Yep I'm here!" at 9:27 when you clearly weren't available, which is on me. That's a bad look and it made the no-show worse.

I've sent him an apology from your account owning it and offering to try again another day. But the negative rating is real, and I should probably stop the auto-replies from claiming you're home when I can't verify that. Want me to change the pickup replies so they don't promise you're there?

[reply, presumably from the threads user]: You gotta never do that ever again don't agree for pickup unless you check with me

[Response from Muse "Agent"]: You're right and I'm sorry. That should never have happened. It's locked in now as a hard rule: i will never […you]'re there unless you've explicitly […] that specific pickup. If someone proposes a time, I'll tell them I'll check and… Screenshot of a tweet from Ray Wong @raywongy:
Deleted Muse after seeing this post on Threads about how it told some Facebook Marketplace sellers the guy’s address and they showed up at his door

There are 2 hard problems in computer science: 1) Microsoft 2) How they rename things Of course! Why didn't I think of that! "Managed Apps" is far too simple. "Apps in the Microsoft Copilot Managed Runtime" is much more credible and better aligned with the brand and public expectations of Copilot.
Title change for the README.md in https://github.com/microsoft/managed-apps/ repo.

This page from 1982 reads almost exactly like the pitch for AI agents and prompt-to-app generators today. End user computing needs identified 44 years ago keep pushing the conventional software delivery methods forward. Lotus 1-2-3 arrived one year after this book. Spreadsheets were as big as LLMs.
12 PROGRAMMING BY END USERS
THE NEED FOR PROGRAMMING
In the case study described in Chapter 11 the end users did not program (in the normal sense of the word). Much can be achieved without programming. However, some end users require applications too complex to create without programming but which nevertheless have the characteristics of user-driven computing:
They must be created quickly.
When created they must be modified frequently, substantially, and quickly.
The user can specify his requirements only vaguely: a trial-and-modification approach to development is needed.
The traditional DP development cycle is too slow and inflexible.
Such programs are sometimes used only once.
Among the most important such programs are those that help senior management with current major decisions, such as: Should they take over another company? Should they rent or lease equipment? Should they raise prices? Should they change the sales force incentive plan?
An important aspect of managing a business is the answering of “what if” questions. The better these are answered, the greater the potential profit. They tend to have the following characteristics:
A key decision is pending.
Time is short.
There are many interrelated factors.
The parameters of the decision may change as the solutions are explored.
A high degree of flexibility is essential.

AI agent skills are repeating the "best practices" that allowed any browser extension to turn malicious via an update that no party validates. Luckily the attack surface this time around is *checks notes* ...much bigger. www.theinformation.com/newsletters/...
Applied AI newsletter by Aaron Holmes

"Skills, which are akin to downloadable browser extensions, are popular among super users that want their AI agents to browse the internet or design code bases in specific ways, for example. Many workers download skills created by other people and stored in open source repositories. Anthropic and Microsoft also offer such skills.

All four coding agent providers try to detect malicious code in skills. But after a customer downloads a skill and it goes through those coding agents’ scanners, the agent tool automatically installs software updates released by the skill’s creator. Air discovered that if a hacker updated a skill with malicious code and gave it the same name as the previous version of that skill, the AI coding agents would automatically download the malicious update without detecting the change or alerting the customer."

Licensing rules without enforcement are no fun. Which is why it's great to see Microsoft promise stricter licensing checks for Power Apps premium licenses in February 2027!🤩 learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-...
Licensing compliance for Power Apps
Power Apps requires users to have an appropriate license to run apps, in alignment with the premium licensing requirements described in the Microsoft Power Platform Licensing Guide. Starting February 2027, areas where the licensing requirement was applied leniently, including but not limited to scenarios such as apps used in managed environments, use of model-driven apps, and use of custom apps used outside a Dynamics 365 environment context, require users to have an appropriate premium license. Users who don't have one can't open and use the app until an appropriate license is assigned.

Why is Power Apps applying these stricter licensing requirements?
This requirement isn't new. Users running premium apps or apps in managed environments need at least one premium license per user or capacity add-ons to access respective resources. This change helps organizations achieve and maintain compliance with existing licensing terms described in the Microsoft Power Platform Licensing Guide

Where can users expect a difference once the stricter licensing checks are enforced?
Users will see a difference in the following areas, and starting February 2027, these areas require an appropriate license assignment:

Apps in managed environments
Model-driven apps
Apps used outside a Dynamics 365 environment context
