Enjoyed reading this collection of poetry in, well, various cafés. It was good for a quick dip and will stand up to multiple re-readings. Café as place, as a verb, as a state of mind, as a dreamscape. Interesting section inspired by Brief Encounter. Another quirky @fitzcarraldoeds.bsky.social

Per a series of bike counts done by @bikewaysto.bsky.social, removing bike lanes will adversely affect pedestrians. About 30% of cyclists rode on sidewalks at Royal York in August 2023 pre-installation compared to 4% in May 2024. #BikeTO #WalkTO #TOpoli #VisionZero drive.google.com/file/d/1LVJ5...
SOURCE: Bike counts done by TCBC

May 23, 2024
● Sidewalk riding had dropped dramatically from 30% (141 individuals) to 30 (adjusted as noted above) or about 4%;
● The number of micro mobility devices as a percentage of all cycle track users is relatively small, amounting to about 10% of the total;
● The number of food couriers also remains nominal relative to the central city;
● This count showed a large increase over the pre-cycle track installation numbers, with an increase from 497 to 694; an increase of 197 riders or almost 40%; and
● Based on the oft-cited number of 87 cyclists per day by MP Yvan Baker in his opposition to the cycle track, usage has risen by a gargantuan 698%
