This afternoon, a man likely experiencing homelessness died at Allan Gardens. No one should die alone in a park without the supports they need. Homelessness is a housing, health, and social services issue. All levels of government must act. This cannot become another statistic.

Ten years ago, Edible Allan Gardens started as a small raised bed project. Today it feeds neighbours and teaches children how to grow food. Now with a $10 million commitment ahead, I cannot wait to see what it grows next.

The Cabbagetown Festival has united neighbours since 1976. You didn’t see campaign tents out there—the weekend wasn’t about politics, it was about celebrating community, local food, and music. Loved being out supporting local businesses and catching up with neighbours!

Toronto has so many great annual traditions, and the Labour Day Parade is one of my favourites. From transit to hospitals, construction to schools — there is unmistakable strength in numbers. Happy Labour Day!

When leaders show up for community, community shows up for leaders. Last night with Khuram Aftab, Evan Solomon, and newly elected MP Tanveer Shahnawaz at Sam's Convenient Store was a reminder of what we are building in Toronto Centre. Together.

Grateful for Dr. Eileen de Villa's endorsement. We worked side by side for over two years, and her commitment to the people who need support most inspired me every step of the way. Proud to keep doing this work together for Toronto Centre.

Local leaders helping local families. 🙌 Lent a hand to Sureya Ibrahim in Regent Park unloading fresh food from Sai Dham Food Bank. We connected these two vital grassroots initiatives to secure bi-weekly food deliveries for our community. Real care in action!

A fire at 291 George Street this morning. Three injured. Lithium-ion battery, again. Second in Ward 13 this month. Third in Toronto in 24 hours. The federal government and province must act. I am tired of writing these. Our residents deserve better.

In defence of the Toronto street festival. It’s simple supply & demand. Their popularity proves we need more pedestrianized streets, yet Toronto makes it so hard. A city where the ethos is people in public space is a problem while Montreal’s is that’s where people belong. My @thestar.com column.
