In iOS 27, I haven't found a way to disable automatic punctuation while dictating text and it's driving me up the wall. Has anyone managed to turn this off?

My Siri AI review: I asked it to set the value of a time picker that isn't accessible to VoiceOver, but it can't interact with elements on the screen. I asked it to locate a book on the StoryGraph that I was reading about on Wikipedia in Safari, but apparently the StoryGraph app doesn't […]

In iOS 27, I can't seem to drag rotor items around in VoiceOver settings. I double tap and hold on the "reorder" handle for the relevant thing, move my finger up or down, and nothing happens. Is there a workaround for this? Moving things one by one is going to take me all night.

I've never had cause to used what3words for anything and rarely see it mentioned in Mexico. But "applauding astonishing compression" (for a package forwarder location in the US) is a great one.

I just got this message from BookPlayer: "The database is corrupted and no backup is available. The library will need to be reset and rebuilt from your audio files." As a developer, I get it. Unexpected I/O errors happen. But what is this even saying? Why is there no backup? I back up my […]

I always get a feeling of anxiety when logging into my investment account. Like I shouldn't be here; this is the place for people who know what they're doing with money and have more of it. Financial empostor syndrome or something. Or just anxiety disorder.

Related to accessible gaming, it definitely bothers me a little how overloaded the term “accessible” is, especially in blindness spaces. “Accessible gaming” does not solely mean “blind accessible”, yet the Accessible Gaming wiki is basically blind central. Blind people have dramatically […]

I recently had Libation (great software) replace a couple of hundred books with higher bitrate versions. It decided to do this by... Placing the files next to the lower bitrate versions and placing "(1)" at the end of the filenames. Which is one way to go about it I suppose. Still great […]

I feel bemused when people compare the ubiquity of AI to how the blockchain was supposedly crammed into so much software. Which software are they talking about? I don't know about you, but I've thus far managed to lead a completely blockchain-free existence. As far as I know, it wasn't added to […]

If the way LLMs bump version numbers in vibe coded projects is anything to go by, people have largely failed to use semantic versioning as intended. A patch release wasn't meant to carry a note like, "and it's a big one," not that I think most software projects should use SemVer in the first place.
