The only threat to humanity that "AI" represents is as the producer of increasing amounts of CO2, e-waste. As a massive polluter and destroyer of our ecosystem. Everything else is just bullshit.

RE: yatil.social/@yatil/117364399453470… And of course, WCAG 3 needs to have its own definition of “pure decoration” because of nebulous “user needs” so that everyone who needs to work with both, WCAG 2 and 3 (which is anyone) for the 10 years until WCAG 3 is the standard everywhere […]

WCAG 3 discussions that drive me bonkers: Let’s create a category for “purely decorative images”. This already exists in WCAG 2. It is well defined. It’s called “pure decoration” and also applies to other non-text content. I mean, if there was any doubt that WCAG 3 is reinventing the WCAG 2 […]

Ach so, Bund und Länder bezahlen das! Aus einem magischen Geldtopf? Ach nein, durch geringere Steuereinnahmen. Und wo werden dann Steuern erhöht? Kann man sich schon denken. Und das für 10–15 Euro „Entlastung“ pro Monat… 🤦 Was Autofahrer zum Start des neuen […] [Original post on yatil.social]

"WCAG 3 will finally center the needs of disabled users!" Like "Stuff needs to be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust"? Sure, it's good to center user needs, but this is not a new thing. I don't know where the idea comes from that WCAG 2 was somehow divorced from the needs of […]

Kinda glad I stopped using Flexibits products, now that they put personal data through Anthropic’s servers. (I plan to switch to Linux, so I waned myself off of 3rd party tools a lot. But this would have been a reason to cancel anyway. The email reminded me that I need to close my account.)
Dear Flexibits customer,
We are writing to let you know about the following update to our list of subprocessors we use for Flexibits services:
• We added Anthropic (San Francisco, CA)
• We added Slack Technologies (San Francisco, CA)

Two things can be true at the same time: Smart glasses can be a great accessibility product AND have severe privacy implications. Casting either away in favor for the other means that you’re not interested in a serious debate, in my opinion.
