I looked into if Medicaid-funded providers who oversee disabled people living independently are ready for worsening climate events. The support they need from the federal government isn’t there, and it’s worsened under Trump. My latest for @motherjones.com. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Home care wasn't ready for the climate crisis—even before Trump's Medicaid and FEMA cuts
As extreme weather mounts, disaster relief for millions of people is being systemically gutted.

The real masculinity crisis is that it took less than one generation for women to outcompete men in higher ed and home ownership once the legal barriers to both were both were removed and they are collectively losing their minds faced with the reality that they were never naturally superior.

Elon Musk may or may not fulfill his promise to step back from DOGE. But his legacy is already clear: He is assembling a sprawling domestic surveillance system — the likes of which we have never seen in the United States. My latest for NYT Opinion (gift link): www.nytimes.com/2025/04/30/o...

Nice and helpful read here by @michaelalewis10.bsky.social about why universal basic income is superior to guaranteed income. Targeting on the front-end introduces big problems and would be better accomplished by taxes on the back-end. UBI provides true security without stigma for all at all times.

The $7.25 federal minimum wage is a poverty wage in every state. Meanwhile S&P 500 CEOs made $40k/hr in 2024. There’s a minimum wage because employers would pay less if they could, but no maximum wage because the rich write our laws to benefit the rich.

Give this a listen. Trump and Rubio are locking up people for engaging in speech, without any tangible evidence of wrongdoing or even hateful speech. So it's good to hear from the people they are demonizing.
On the day he was detained:

When I get the appointment the first thing was uh… is this a trap or is it legit? And I realized directly that I am dealing with two extreme opposite poles. One is becoming a citizen with full rights, and the other one is being detained and having no rights.

I see the risk, I see the opportunity, and I want the American people to see this, too. To see this level of injustice. That I am doing everything legally, that I have prepared and studied for the Constitution and that I went willingly and respected the law, did everything the way how it's supposed to be done.
