In July last year, we revealed that Manchester council had signed a 10-year deal giving Man City's Abu Dhabi owners "right of first refusal" on the sale of council land across whole stretches of East Manchester. Today, it's on the front page of the Sunday Times, crediting us.

Yeah that’s true, so not the purest form of neoliberalism. But inviting private capital to profit from previously public assets - central to the Manchester strategy - is textbook.

If you didn’t know who delivered it, you might assume Burnham’s speech was a repudiation of the Manchester model of economic growth rather than an argument being made by its mayor of almost a decade. Then the City scandal yanked him back to reality.

Was Ms Rabbit in Peppa Pig involved in the Madchester scene? That’s that @manchestermill.bsky.social are asking today. The evidence is compelling…
In an episode of the hit children’s cartoon entitled The Queen, Peppa’s teacher Ms Rabbit receives “The Queen’s Award for Industry” for being “the hardest-working person in the country” (this claim is disputed). What’s odd is that the symbol on the medal bares a striking resemblance to the logo for Factory Records.
