Litter is a bugbear of mine. I can't get my head around why someone would think it's OK to drop their rubbish. I set off to find out if the council's outsourced environmental enforcement was making a difference. Turns out there was a lot more going on. manchestermill.co.uk/fixed-penalt...

If you're a Mill subscriber, you'll have received a somewhat pleading email from me this morning. We're pushing to reach 5000 paid subscribers by the end of next week. I thought I'd take this as a chance to share a few of the articles I've been fortunate enough to write thanks to our paying Millers

When Chris Bird took on one of the UK’s longest-running, independent papers, people hoped he’d be the man to turn things around. He’s had a dizzying career, going from the board of directors of JD Sports to COO at Manchester City. But 6 years on, the rescue hasn’t gone to plan…

Late last week, the leader of Reform UK Oldham told the Local Democracy Reporting Scheme that rumours he was stepping aside were “silly allegations”. Five days later, he was gone. I tried contacting all 16 of their councillors, no one would talk to me. (1/4)

Oldham politics is mad. Last night the maddest thing yet happened, a bunch of councillors agreed with one another. Only downside is that it meant the leader of Reform had to quit and much of their supporter base turned on them. manchestermill.co.uk/oldham-refor...
