As someone who loves Zelda, but has only beaten Ocarina of Time once, on 3DS when that version came out, I feel like I’m the target demographic for this remake. I think the faces look a little wire but that’s okay. Overall I like it.

Also true… commander 1v1 is fine but also it leads to weird games sometimes since the decks are really designed to be played in 4 player games though from my experience.

You can play online on something like Untap, Cockatrice, or Tabletop Simulator. These will let you play with whatever cards you want for free! I play commander on Tabletop Sim with friends all the time. You can try out decks you haven’t bought yet, or that you don’t ever plan to buy.

There are still some (cheap) things you can do though! Beginner boxes come with basic jumpstart packs for leaning. You can also buy some Jumpstart packs of whatever set you want and replay them in different combinations. This is how I usually teach people You can proxy cards and decks to save money!

Very fair. A thing I think I left out is not just the mechanics, but keeping track of one opponent’s board is hard enough at first. Jumping into four players and having to keep track of all of that with all of the stuff they can do on a turn is a lot.

Commander is on the high end of the difficulty scale. Even people who have been playing for years and know the rules well get things wrong.

I usually recommend starting with 1v1 games of JumpStart, which has fewer cards, decks with ~ 1 or 2 colors, and lets you focus on core mechanics, timing, etc. Then once you have a good grasp, you can move up to something with more cards and mechanics.

Magic has so much stuff in it, it’s a ton to understand. It’s a lot easier to learn the game when you only have one opponent, and then scale up to having three or more. Commander has access to almost all of the cards in the game. There are sois so much that depends on knowing how the rules work.

Really any precon from the last few years is good, so yeah, whatever you think looks fun! Also: commander is really complicated! I usually recommend starting with JumpStart (or at least something 1v1 and not commander) to get a good feel for the game before playing commander

Okay actually a correction after I looked this up to double check…. The free trial actually limits you to playing on the same platform you started on. So if you started the free trial on another platform, you will either have to buy the game for Switch 2 plus pay for a sub, or start a new character
