I like how the GOP's position is that every single form of labor is trivial and pointless. The only "work" with any purpose or dignity is to be an owner, politician, or talking head. Everything else is contemptible and could be done by anyone with no training. Hence accountants just "do math."

If I had to guess he started directing not because he wanted to but rather so he could protect his scripts. It's a terrible reason to direct. And in the process he has completely suffocated the life out of his work.

I went to check on the latest House and Senate polls and hadn't realized I must still have a bookmark for the NYT's polling page from 2016, because this is what came up, and it's (a) an amazing jump-scare; and (b) honestly a pretty good reminder to approach polls with caution.

I think most artists need someone who pushes back a little. Being the only one in charge is just clearly bad for him. It’s frustrating because I love the West Wing and the scripts for movies he doesn’t direct.
