Op-Ed in the National Catholic Reporter is not pulling any punches. “The vice president's comments justifying the death of Renee Good are a moral stain on the collective witness of our Catholic faith”

Vance knows. He doesn't care. Vance's twisted and wrongheaded view of Christianity has been repudiated by two popes. His Catholicism seems to be little more than a political prop, a tool only for his career ambitions and desire for power.
The vice president's comments justifying the death of Renee Good are a moral stain on the collective witness of our Catholic faith, His repeated attempts to blame Good for her own death are fundamentally incompatible with the Gospel. Our only recourse is to pray for his conversion of heart.

I know others have gone into detail throughout the day, but I just want to make sure I highlight how important Judge Paula Xinis's order from today in Kilmar Abrego Garcia's case is. It is about discovery — the evidence the gov't is to turn over — but her points are sharp and the context is key.
IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT
FOR THE DISTRICT OF MARYLAND
KILMAR ARMANDO
ABREGO GARCIA, et al., *
 Plaintiffs, *
Civil Action No. 8:25-cv-00951-PX
v. *
KRISTI NOEM, Secretary, *
United States Department *
of Homeland Security, et al., *
 Defendants.

***
ORDER
Pursuant to this Court’s Letter Order Regarding the Filing of Discovery Motions (ECF No.
80), Plaintiffs have notified the Court of seemingly intractable discovery disputes that require
immediate attention to remain on the expedited discovery schedule. ECF Nos. 79 & 98. To
facilitate the just and expeditious production of discovery, the Court rules on Defendants’ stated
objections included within their answers to Interrogatories and responses to Requests for
Production of Documents (“RPDs”).

Either the U.S. government *is* able to exert monetary and diplomatic pressure on El Salvador sufficient to produce Abrego Garcia’s release, or it isn’t. The latter would be either a bald-faced lie or a pretty stunning concession of our national impotence. The Vice President should pick one.
