Absolutely howling at the fact that instagram is now allowing you to caption individual pictures on a carousel. It’s 2009 all over again and I’ve just uploaded 140 pictures from a night out at Tiger Tiger, and captioned every single one. Time truly is a circle.

Children aren't the problem. Ban anyone over the age of 30 who still uses facebook and can't tell if a AI video of Nigel Farage getting off with Churchill is real or not.

The grassroots of labour really need to send the message back up the chain how fucked they will be if the central leadership doesn’t change tack. You’ve already lost right leaning people to reform. And you have already lost left leaning people like me to actual progressive causes.

I was already never going labour again but this is yet another nail in the coffin. Rather than taxing wealth, combating literal fascism or drastically overhauling our society they are chasing idiotic pipe dreams like this. Fucking basket case. The Greens can have my vote.

Anyway.. sigh. It feels like a huge loss, and I feel silly in a way but these little things are the parts of your life that feel precious. I first ever listened to IOT when I was a 15 year old on my way to a fracture clinic with my dad, and for that reason it will always feel special.

I wish I didn't feel that way, but part of me worries that the kind of presenter that Melvyn was doesn't exist in today's broadcasting world. It was never about virality, or scandal or what was buzzworthy, it was always just about the search for knowledge.

I am worried about it's future.. if ever a person embodied the programme they presented it was Melvyn and IOT. He was a relentlessly curious polymath who's enthusiasm for the subject material was matched by his own vast knowledge. I'm not sure who on earth can even begin to fill those shoes.

That programme very much transformed my life, opening my mind up to things I've never heard about, encouraging a curiosity I still have at the right old age of 35 and something that provoked many a conversation with people - me usually trying to convince them to start listening!

I learned last week that Melvyn Bragg was stepping down from Radio 4's In Our Time programme after decades at the helm.. It sounds dramatic but it's hard to overstate how much that hit me. I've listened to him for 20 years and have quite literally grown up with that programme in my ears #InOurTime

I wish it was more complicated but: Elon won. Pundits, journalists and political elites uses Twitter to gauge popular discourse and identify stories, which was workable so long as it was moderated. He seized control, completely altered its normal mode, but none of them adapted.

Far right groups are threatening to burn down hotels full of refugees at events attended by senior politicians, while people of colour live in fear after being falsely labelled as paedophiles How mainstream politicians and media organisations are allowing a violent far right movement to spread

Where Is the Political Leadership Against This Violent Far-Right Movement Terrorising Britain?
The silence of senior mainstream politicians and media organisations against the rise of a new well-organised far-right movement on Britain's streets is a disgrace, argues Adam Bienkov

My hopes were low for Starmer and his bunch when they got into power. But it's staggering just how low they've stooped. Attacking all of their allies, failing to placate the worst of their enemies. We're ushering in Farage and his gang and once that happens, we're truly fucked.

Hard not to fall into a deep sense of depression when looking at just how deeply DEEPLY racist society is in the midst of this hatred stirred up over asylum seekers in hotels. And equally just how badly Labour are responding to it, showing how far their cowardice runs when opposing racism.

Rebuild time though. We’ve got a fair bit of dead weight now and definitely towards the end of the seasons we’ve looked like Liverpool, relying on the same faces and not always having a plan B.

‘Cheap foreign labour’ – this is how Keir Starmer denigrates the migrant carers looking after your loved ones
The government’s claims about immigration driving down wages are so demonstrably untrue, it’s hard to feel the appropriate level of outrage

The problems in our society are not caused by migrants or refugees. They are caused by an economic system rigged in favour of corporations and billionaires. If the government wanted to improve people’s lives, it would tax the rich and build an economy that works for us all.

All of us.... every single last one of us... are descended from immigrants. And without it, this country would just be a bunch of uninhabited islands on the edge of the world. Everything that built this country... and everything it is... springs from that. And we should embrace it, not decry it.
