I was (as always) thinking about my cat today and the fact he's an indoor cat and how life might be better for him in the country where I plan to build a semi off-grid house. At the lake. Anyway, this poem rose in my mind like a carp in a pool. Or pond. Pond would probably be better for you.

Heaven of Animals, James Dickey: Here they are. The soft eyes open.
If they have lived in a wood
It is a wood.
If they have lived on plains

Under their feet forever.

Having no souls, they have come,

My apartment's AC went out and it's still very hot in AR, heat indexes over 100º everyday. However, I live in an old apartment complex built in the 1920s and it's purely concrete and brick other than the doors. Its thermal mass has got to be enormous. The apt temp the last 2 days never got over 78
