Indianapolis! A decade ago I wrote executable poetry in JavaScript. More recently I’ve been enjoying longer form short stories and middle grade fiction. Love making little melodies and storytelling. A very silly person. @joeldart everywhere. he/him

Everyone is different, but in the name of retrospective narratives on “i sent my kid(s) to our failing public school and look what happened” we had an entirely different experience. (How it started article, for reference) www.indianapolismonthly.com/news-and-opi...

Perfect storm of a busy morning today, here at the Kids 5k at Lucas Oil. 1900 kids here at the race (2 of them mine). Then hurrying over to lead Code Club (Coderdojo). Then leaving there coaching our NESA team in soccer (at least the second half 😩)

Monday I (41) was playing half court 3v3 at the ymca. We won our game and thus stayed on for the next. Suddenly 2 players joined our team. 5 new players came in to challenge, and I found myself forced into my first full court game since 2003. Today (Thursday), I am still very very sore.

Read most of draft 1.0.0 of book 3 of my series to the 13 & 11yo last night. Pretty encouraged. They hated the wondrous scene (just short of booing… which they have done before) so need to redo that. But big laughs and tears for the other chapters. Parts I wasn’t feeling they were a LOT. Good stuff

So something that’s kind of interesting about this, as an Indy (600k reg voters) resident is that I’m now gerry-cousins with a bunch of these red counties with 5-20k voters. Yeah they’re trying to dilute our votes but now we have 4 reps who need to court us to build a sizable coalition

I just discovered the 0s trick in multiplication applies across all baseN (at least that I’ve found) so 100x100 in hex/base16 = 10000. 256x256=65,536 and 65536 in hex is 10000. 3600x6? Thats easy in base 60 (how we measure time): 6:0:0

Is Your EdTech Investment Actually Improving Learning? A Framework for Impact
As a K-12 administrator, you've likely overseen significant investments in educational technology. But the nagging question remains: Is it making a difference? Too often, expensive devices and software gather digital dust, failing to translate into measurable student growth. The challenge isn't a lack of technology; it's the lack of a coherent, evidence-based strategy for its integration. Register now The TCEA Mastery Series, "Visible Learning with Ed Tech," provides the system-level framework you need to bridge this gap.

i keep cracking up at this post on AI writing
A reddit post: "Why does my erotica writing AI keep defaulting to yoga and gratitude?"

Text: I’m trying to write steamy romance, not a self-help book on conscious breathing.

Every time the story’s about to get physical, the AI derails into something like: “They paused to reflect on their emotional journey and honor the connection between their bodies.”

Like… NO. That’s not what we were building up to.

Yesterday, the characters stopped mid flirt to recommend deep breathing exercises and partner yoga. It’s like the AI turns into a wellness coach the moment the tension peaks.

Anyone else run into this? How do you keep the AI from shifting tone so hard? Looking for tools or strategies that actually let the heat build without detouring through a spiritual retreat.

What is "glue" in this context? I guess I'd say, carrying around a great amount of context in their heads and using it judiciously, to help the org run better. Making sure work doesn't get duplicated, is aware of and aligned with other adjacent labor, and adds up to the top priorities of the org.

In fact, we don't defeat evil. Good doesn't triumph. It never has. Instead, good seeks to make more of itself - through kindness, through love of neighbor, through cleaving to justice and mercy and knowledge and hope and righteousness.
