One of the paintings that was stolen was this one, framed. It’s big - like 15x20”. I’ve been tasked with putting together an inventory, which is an awful thing to do. I’m grateful that I have five paintings in my apartment on my walls, but for some reason I stored this one.

Drove over to the closest cornfield to watch the lightning storm in the distance.

Recently came across a vintage “Hostess” chip display, so I snagged it for the husband’s movie room. Do you guys remember ”🎶when you‘ve got the munchies, nothing else will do, Hostess Potato Chips”. (Lays bought out Hostess years ago, I think Hickory Sticks still carry Hostess branding?)

A metal rack/stand that is countertop size. There are three rows of metal clips which hold small chip bags, vertically. There is a white metal sign on top of the stand with the word “Hostess” in blue script/font

I think we missed a huge opportunity to normalize masking as a public health tool. We eradicated an entire strain of the flu with Covid prevention measures. Masking shows respect for those around you. It shows solidarity with the disability community. It shows you value long term health.

I don't describe a lot of stories as a must-read, but this one should be for Toronto voters. I heard the words 'ideologically rudderless ambitionist' used to describe a different politician. But I think they apply to Brad Bradford, too. #GiftLink 🎁 #ToPoli #BikeTO www.thestar.com/gift-redeem?...

I’ll have more on Chow in a later column. But the Bradford conversations have been striking for their near uniformity. Most of the people I’ve spoken to, from across the political spectrum, don’t disagree with Bradford so much as they dislike him as a person. Several supporters told me they found Bradford weirdly intense. Chow backers — including many who once stood with Tory — and those with no horse in this race went much further. They told me — almost to a person — that they find Bradford unprincipled and disloyal.

This is more than just the normal political griping. For whatever reason, many who have worked closely with Bradford over the past eight years think he is almost uniquely unlikable. I’m not sure I’ve ever covered anyone who inspires so much personal vitriol. Many — and not just progressives — think he would be a terrible mayor, not because he believes in awful ideas but because they don’t think he believes in anything at all.

Am I glad someone who was using A.I. to generate an image reached out to an actual artist to get some art made? Yes! Am I going to lower my prices because you want something made that’s “just supposed to be a joke”. No. Work is work. Am I glad he thought it was too expensive? LOL! Yes.

I know I’d had a few interactions with him while chalking the sidewalk out front. Nice guy. Loud. Bit of an over-sharer. I hadn’t been chalking much over the summer and I figured he was coming to see why, since a lot of people who walk past have been mentioning how much they miss it. (No pressure!)

Every artist who does commission work will have stories about “red flag” customers. Earlier in the summer, I noticed someone on our porch. I had just gotten out of the shower, so I wasn’t going to answer the door. I recognized the man as someone who walks his dog past the house, sometimes.
