Things are getting tight out there. So a few general tips: 1) Make a “menu” for the week before grocery shopping. Be ready to change it based on sales, but if you know what you’re making and the ingredients it’s easier to budget.

Great thread! Meal planning and a chest freezer have served us very well. Here's my tip: if you can make it or grow it yourself, do it. For instance, bread is so expensive, yet so cheap to produce. Find a well-reviewed no-knead recipe and give it a try! Herbs, too - grow your own!
