Excited at our paper just out in PNAS. We used JWST to detect frozen deuterated water ("heavy water") on the moons of Uranus. There is **much more** on the moons than on Uranus itself, showing that Uranus and the moons formed from separate reservoirs of water. Fun lab work in the supplement, too.🔭🪐

Samedi soir, après avoir fait état sur le réseau social Bluesky d’une manifestation fasciste en cours et de violences avérées à Nice, j’ai reçu ce “doux" message, posté sur X.


Le procureur de la République doit être immédiatement saisi.

Toute ma vie je me battrai contre toute forme de discrimination. Je me battrai par les mots, les idées, en condamnant toute forme de violence.









Années après années, les paroles racistes, xénophobes et toutophobes se libèrent dans notre pays, accompagnées parfois de violences verbales et/ou physiques. Quand on condamne  publiquement ces actes, il devient courant d’être victime en retour. Car oui, une telle menace, même cachée derrière un téléphone ou un ordinateur, est d’une grande violence. Je condamne fermement cette violence, et y répondrai par des mots.

Qu’est-il arrivé au pays des droits humains?
Je suis un enfant des années 1980, la génération qui a fêté le bicentenaire de la révolution française. On m’a appris comment notre beau pays avait créé un idéal de liberté, d’égalité et de fraternité. Je vois aujourd'hui qu’une frange de la population, au nom de l’amour de sa patrie et de la liberté, s’affranchit de deux termes de cette triade : égalité et fraternité. J’aime la France, ce pays où j’ai eu la chance de naître.

Je parle bien sûr de la France, source d’inspiration progressiste pour de nombreux pays, malgré certaines pages sombres que certains récits pseudo-historiques cherchent à effacer. La France d’aujourd'hui est le fruit de cette longue histoire. Elle a été construite - souvent littéralement - par des personnes que nous sommes allés chercher par besoin de main d’œuvre, et souvent venant de pays que l’on avait colonisés. Depuis que l’humain foule le sol de la planète Terre, des migrations, voulues ou forcées ont construit l’identité de pays, dont le nôtre.

It's paper day! It turns out the CO ice line promotes the early formation of planetesimals in protoplanetary discs with porous grains. Because it is fragile, the CO ice coating the grains in the cold outer disc prevents them from growing during collisions. 1/3
