I just went through the verification process and I felt a little bad for respectfully expressing my displeasure in this anti-democratic process with the staffer who verified me, but it sounds like they have been hearing it a lot…

I call on all candidates across parties to join me in endorsing the #VotePalestine and Protect Palestinian Children Now campaigns. Canada must protect innocent civilians, international rule of law, and enable a just and lasting peace in Palestine and Israel. More unites us than divides us.

Two sunny bowls by Wayne Ngan. To the left: porcelain with celadon, made and fired at Tam Irving’s studio in Fisherman’s Cove, BC. To the right: stoneware with a glaze made from wild clay found near Victoria BC and fired on Hornby Island. @waynengan.bsky.social
Two bowls in the sunshine and shadows with tiles in the background. One is a pale green with vertical sides the other is a rusty red with a more rounded shape. They are siting on an aged piece of wood.

Close up of a brown bee with fluffy beige fur, sitting in a lemon yellow flower. Only her face is in focus, highlighting her large grey-blue spotted eye and the yellow pollen grains stuck to each of her hairs. She has her pollen-covered mouthparts extended into the flower and out of sight.

My mom sent me two photos from her time hanging out with my teenager yesterday. In the first one they are cozy inside working on a jigsaw puzzle. In the second one they are on the corner of the highway in the rain protesting genocide. #multigenerationalsocialjustice #coolgrandma

A poster I made for a group show in Canada a couple years back.
A complex pen and ink drawing of a sinking ship on fire (representing the US), filled with furious, raging animals of all varieties (bear, eagle, ram, lion, moose, etc.) armed with guns, all staring at their phones which are telling them that all of their problems are due to night monkeys. A small night monkey is in the middle of all of the other animals, holding her children close, eyes wide with fear. Pigs and their money are floating in the turbulent water, they think they’re safe in their life preserver rings but sharks are on their way. The text reads “GUTTERS ARE ELASTIC, FEATURING: SONNY ASSUE SHARY BOYLE & WHESS NARYAN bailey macabre & COLE PRULS & JILLIAN TAMAKI, MOMOKO USAMI • JOSHUA W. COTTER & RONALD WIMBERLY

This gorgeous creature is the Vancouver Island bumblebee. Seventeen-plus genera of native bees now inhabit my small urban lot, up from basically zero a few years ago. All I’ve done is put plants in the ground. Bombus vancouverensis vancouverensis 2024 #southendnanaimo #bcnativebees
A large fuzzy bumble bee clings to a partially-open chive blossom. The bee has distinctive spots and patches of black, white, and yellow fur.

Canada has said it will abide by the ICC ruling/arrest warrants against Netanyahu. It must now also take immediate action to implement a full two-way arms embargo like it had on Israel 1992-1994. Canada has done it before and should do it again. #ArmsEmbargoNow. armsembargonow.ca

New to @bsky.app? We’ve got some etiquette just for you! Turn on the little feature that reminds you to post alt text with your images. Alt text allows blind and partially sighted people to understand what's in your images using screen readers. Without alt text, it just says "image".
Screen shot of "Accessibility Settings" with two main categories: "Alt text" and "Media." Under Alt text, there are two toggle options labelled "Require alt text before posting," which is switched on. “Display larger alt text badges" Under Media, there’s an option labelled "Disable autoplay for videos and GIFs," which is switched on.

A gathering of pots and people as we load the Tozan Noborigama kiln in Cedar BC for its fall firing. It’s always inspiring to contribute to this collective process.
Tables covered with unfired pottery of many shapes, sizes, and colours in the foreground, with people, a pile of wood, and the opening of a brick pottery kiln in the background.
