Pushing faculty to use AI for grading or chatbots for office hours isn’t innovation. It’s symptomatic of a corporatizing-higher-ed trend that has saddled instructors with more TPS reports every year while cutting resources that allow us to give students a better experience. Tech to solve self-owns.

Goddamn 2026 has been just banger after banger from U2 (after a pretty long spell of music I liked but didn’t love). The lyrics plus the use of Spanish language/cultural vibe across the album …. they are not being shy about what this album is about lol.

Every semester as I am passing out the first exam in my intro course, I make the joke, "Do not sweat this test. I took it for practice last night and got a B+" Class I'm giving it to tomorrow doesn't much do the collective laughter at my jokes and I'm debating the ills of that joke falling flat. 😂

I've been collecting AI chat app video and still ads for my class next spring. Nothing often surprises me anymore about the Internet but I am still finding myself stunned at how blatant and cynical they are in targeting men with really fucked-up views of companionship and love.

The data-driven poll coverage of the U.S. elections keeps telling me the House is a toss up, but it feels so detached from the visceral feeling I get when I have to pay $62 to put 13 gallons of gas in my car. Most I’d ever paid before was $54 (2 months ago) and it was at most $44 in the Biden era.

I do most of our family's shopping and I can't think of a time in the last 20 years that I have seen beef at less than $2/lb. On sale maybe $3.50 a few times, but that was the artery-clogging fat ratio that RFK Jr. loves.

Clearly the changes were a poor business strategy. The only way this makes sense is if you consider billionaire control of these cultural megaphones to be a loss leader for their ideological and business interests, but to my eyes it’s the correct read. This is a rounding error with a big payoff.

This thing sold out in minutes and I had a chance to preorder one so I grabbed it, because if I want it later it's going for over $1500 on places like eBay. The thing is so beautiful. I may decide to cancel it but having the option was too good to pass up.

It takes you 20 paragraphs to get to the part of the article where they admit that Mamdani isn't paying the influencers and the reason they are posting videos of the stuff Mamdani is doing is because people are interested in watching it.
The mayor’s office says that it does not pay the influencers. Still, their proximity and access to a figure as popular as Mr. Mamdani can help increase their own social media following and, by extension, potentially put them in a position to attract paid content sponsorships from commercial brands. Some influencers said that when they feature Mr. Mamdani, the videos get more likes and viewers watch longer.

Access to *any newsmaker* puts a journalist “in the position” to make money they wouldn’t without access! For better AND worse (cultivating sources is part of the game), that’s how journalism works. “Using taxpayer money” to court outlets is a charge you could make against ANY public official.

Pour one out for the man whose character unexpectedly died in the 1986 movie (due to a cynical attempt by Hasbro to refresh the toy line) and traumatized an entire generation of Xers. Like, there were kids crying in the theater. How could they kill such a tremendous voice?
