But the show I want to single out—the one on my personal 10-shows ballot that did not make the list at all—is this beautiful, and apparently now largely forgotten, creation. Do yourself a favor and seek it out. (86 Ted Lasso to make room for it.) www.nytimes.com/2016/10/26/a...

Didn’t think I’d live to see it: Virtually every SCTV episode is now on Netflix. (The one that’s missing is highly unusual, featuring none of the show’s cast at the time.) Some rights-based cuts/substitutions of music, but fewer than I’d have guessed. It’s 95% complete. Incredible.

I adore the editing in F For Fake. It's incredibly jarring on purpose meant to shock the audience out of a place of complacency with a rhythm that feels like you're constantly chasing after the film.

Tom Holland’s super-power is that he can generate extraordinarily entertaining chemistry with pretty much anyone. Also, the new Spider-Man is a total delight, and one that produces the minor miracle of making the MCU interesting again.

A lot of the time, when you call someone "the best to ever do it," it's hyperbole. But when it comes to classic multi-cam sitcom direction, Burrows was without any scintilla of a doubt the best to ever do it. RIP.

James Burrows was not a giant in sitcom directing. He was THE giant. The primary director of Cheers and Taxi. The only director (I believe) of Will & Grace. The director whose pilots for Friends, Third Rock, Frasier, and Big Bang Theory got them on the air. The king. RIP. people.com/james-burrow...

A story I love about Anthony Stewart Head. Thank you to this person for sharing it on Tumblr. What a mensch.
A photo of Tony Head with a fan, standing in a barn near a horse. Tumblr post from dracofidus: If you EVER think Anthony Head is anything less than an angel then you'd best remember that I have always been a huge fan of his and we've always had a little contact over the years and he heard I'd come out as Trans and was having a hard time and that I was kind of sad that the photos I had from conventions with him were of me with long hair and no binder and they were all signed to "Sarah" and so he invited me to spend the day with him at his farm and he picked me up from the station and we just hung out and had lunch and he insisted on paying and look loads of photos and had them printed on photo paper the same day so he could sign them to Jay, along with other photos of him as Giles and Utger and he literally spent five hours chatting with me and got all the pronoun stuff right every time and then he dropped me off at the station, gave me a massive hug. Waved me through the ticket barrier and insisted I message him when I got home so he knew I was back safe.

To our dismay, the artist and author Marjane Satrapi has passed away. As she wrote, ordinary Americans and Iranians have more in common with each other than we do with either of our governments, which have far too much in common with each other. We honor her memory and oppose the war.

NO WAR WITH IRAN!
The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West.
You are American, I am Iranian, we don’t know each other, but we talk together
& we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you
& your government is much bigger than the difference
between you & me.
And the difference between me
& my government is much bigger
than the difference
between me & you.
And our governments are very much the same...

This is not how you do a headline, Space Daily
"Saturn's rings are mostly made of water ice, and they're slowly raining down into the planet at a rate that means they'll be gone in roughly 100 million years — which sounds geologically long, but in the timeline of the solar system it means we're seeing them during one specific moment of their existence, and almost any other moment we could have been born into would have seen Saturn without them"
