It's worth noting that this isn't a random number but a goal that would simply restore the court to an earlier norm in which there's one justice for each of the judicial circuits. We used to have nine, we now have thirteen. The people defending the current setup have the tougher case to make here.

stop. if you think the existence of a warrant is part of the conversation in any way, you cannot, by definition, argue that it makes any difference whether the guy they killed had a warrant or not. because right guy or wrong guy, an arrest warrant isn't a death sentence.

Slaughter is an earthquake: SCOTUS has overturned a 90-year-old precedent that facilitated much of modern governance by granting many agencies meaningful independence from the president. Now SCOTUS crushes that independence ... for seemingly every agency except the Federal Reserve.

Strongest argument for Democrats packing the Supreme Court is that we have never, in the whole history of the republic, had a Court that votes on almost all major decisions on a straight party line the way the Roberts Court does now. /1 nathannewman.substack.com/p/weve-never...
nathannewman.substack.com
We’ve Never Had a Partisan Court Before. That’s the Case for Packing It.
Major Supreme Court decisions of the past were built by justices appointed across party lines- but if the Court is now just a partisan engine, a partisan packing of the Court is appropriate.
