Yes it is a low hire low fire labor market but there is still clear sectoral rotation away from the service sector and toward areas tied to the data center boom

Softer than expected September employment report after a blowout August--conditions look stable and solid at the lower breakeven pace (from no pop growth) with a rotation away from higher wage professional services toward data center related mfg + construction jobs

5y5y forward inflation expectations from the D'Amico, Kim and Wei (DKW) model that adjust for risk & liquidity premia send a very different signal from the measure that does not make these adjustments. Specifically there has been a steady upward drift in expectations since the pandemic.

With profits surging and the UR dropping to 4.1% from 4.5% last December, the question arises is the labor market strengthening/tightening? The dynamics from Aug JOLTS and Sept CB consumer assessments of hiring conditions do not suggest an improvement in conditions

The 2025 American Community Survey should have come out today. But it has been delayed because of unusual political encroachment at Census. ACS drives business and policy decisions, especially in local communities, and is the primary input to Census’s immigration estimates.

This is the part many Americans -- including the Bezosites at the Washington Post -- don't understand. Canadians don't see this just as a Trump thing. It's that America elected him twice, and the second time with an even bigger mandate. The problem we're addressing is America, not Trump.

The financing gap is the difference b/w capex and internal cash flow for nonfinancial corps, it represents the demand for external funding (debt). New data for Q2 from the Fed show the 4-quarter avg is the largest on record (though it is not as outsized as a % of nominal GDP)
