This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

Although… yeah, she did put away those stamp crooks. Their intricate dastardly scheme unraveled right away under the microscope of her hyperfocus.

Plot twist: Phantom Lady isn’t a superhero in the conventional sense, she’s just a little neurospicy and this is her favorite everyday outfit this month. Nobody who really knows her even notices anymore.

I remember that my immediate reaction was: “Finally! A starship captain I can plausibly believe a military-esque bureaucracy would entrust with a really expensive ship and a bunch of people’s lives!”

What’s the Presbyterian vibe? Being judgy and believing in predestination? I guess a Scottish accent would be a bridge too far.

Not of immediate importance to most of us right now—we have to get through the midterms—but just remember that whenever the question of Rahm Emanuel comes up, the answer is “Nope.” #uspol

a bouquet of buildings (Downtown Jersey City, NJ) Photo taken from Razza outdoor seating area across Grove Street from City Hall (part of which is seen at right). Mixed low-rise and high-rise buildings. [jbm-20260906-gfxr-006] #photography #urbanarchitecture #skyline #jerseycity #GFX100
We see some high-rise buildings in the middle distance, and some low-rise buildings nearer. Parts of the sky exhibit some cloud versus blue drama. Near, to the left of the frame and toward the bottom, we see a wooden plank sign painted with a yellow crescent moon and the word "BAR" in white. We also see (at the bottom of the frame) a person's head and shoulders from the back, and the tops of some cars.

Although… the character and plot driven ones are usually built atop backstories which proper fans know in their bones and I absolutely do not, and these days I can no longer muster sufficient interest to dive into researching them before watching the films.

Yeah, that’s where I’ve landed. I guess the ones I’ve been least annoyed at having sat through have been the more quirky, character and plot driven ones. The ones whose denouement is some huge loud battle royale built entirely in a world of effects I now have zero patience for.

Wow. Proponents of the ICE taser gloves are openly saying that one reason they love the gloves is that they doesn’t leave any marks or proof that they were used, making it harder for people to sue when they’re shocked excessively.
Mother Jones

"In today's society, you know, everybody's filming everything, everybody has a cell phone," Glueck said. If an officer punches someone on camera, that can go viral in an instant; even a standard taser leaves puncture wounds. But "the glove is low optic, and it looks better on camera, and it looks better to those witnesses. With a glove, there are no burn marks or scars."But local police across the country are still eagerly buying the gloves—in large part so that they can harm people and avoid being sued for it. It's been successful "from the patrolmen to the jailers," Lumpkin County Sheriff Stacy Jarrard said in a Compliant Technologies promotional video. "It's been a great tool as far as mitigating liability," according to Nelson County Jailer Justin Hall.
Bob Couey of the Floyd County Sheriff's Department sung the GLOVE's praises, too: "I highly recommend these gloves to anybody that's looking for a utility they can use that is conducive to not leading to lawsuits."

Art tip: don't share everything you draw. Draw things you never intend to show anyone. Your brain needs time to just exist in a state that's not about performing for strangers. This used to be the normal way to exist before social media poisoned us.
