Summary says, "Viktor’s excited to spend his sabbatical researching wolves in Yellowstone – he’s got everything planned - travel, lodging, an absurd number of winter clothing layers, borrowing fellow researcher Sky’s Subaru on a carefully laid out schedule. What he didn’t plan for was Jayce Talis starting his new job with the Yellowstone Wolf Project.

It’s been a decade since they dated, since the best thing in his life fell apart not with a bang, but with a whimper, and he’s sure it would take another decade for him to be able to say he’s over it and actually mean it. Running into Jayce isn’t the worst thing that could happen, but it throws Viktor off his game, flares up old grievances and irritations that he thought he’d put behind him.

When an early storm puts Viktor out of a home for the winter season, Jayce offers his own lodgings, “Just like old times,” and Viktor would be a fool to take him up on the offer, but a bigger fool not to.

It’s awkward and living together again brings back the ghosts of all the ways they managed to hurt each other when they were younger…but also it starts to heal something between them in a way that has Viktor terrified for his heart once more."

How much affection can Jayce give Viktor? 👀 #jayvikrbb2026 #jayvik

Viktor replies back, “I did it!”

Overwhelmed, Jayce goes to hug Viktor while screaming, “you brilliant bastard!” He also surprises both himself and Viktor, by kissing his hair.

Jayce goes to apologize, “sorry! I just- I mean, wow Vik,” but is interrupted by Viktor.

“Ah, it is, ehh… no bother. Merely unexpected.”

Jayce and Viktor are attending a Council Charity Gala. Both dress in Jayce’s house colors: red, white, and gold. With the exception of Viktor’s tie being a Zaun green, a small representation of where his origins lie.

They both seem to have escaped an altercation with a member of the Council, Salo. Now laughing their heads off as Viktor may or may not have stolen from said councilor, though it’s for charity purposes, who can say it wasn’t for a good cause.

Viktor keeps insulting Salo, but Jayce seems to tune out his words and just admires the man. Though this times his affection is on purpose, as he goes and leans and kiss Viktor’s forehead.

After the kiss, Jayce expresses the joy to have Viktor is by his side. Finding his missing puzzle piece and not being able to imagine a life without him. Thanking the man for seeing something in him and sticking around.

Viktor’s expression softens and replies, “of course Jayce.”

Viktor is asleep on a book on top of his desk. Jayce comes over and places his own blanker to keep him warm.

Jayce admires Viktor as he sleeps, then leans forward to kiss Viktor’s right cheek.

There are 2 panels that zoomed into Jayce’s eye. First panel: he is looking down at Viktor warmly. Second panel: he looks up and realizes that his feelings for Viktor are not only that of friendship, but romantic as well.

Jayce quietly exhales an “oh” afterwards.

Another panel zooms on Viktor’s eye as he is asleep, then a following panel shows Jayce’s eye looking at Viktor as he is waking up.

Both Jayce and Viktor wake up on a grass field in the middle of nowhere, and smiles at each other knowing they’re alive. They hold hands as they continue stare longingly at one another, glad to know they’re together once more.

Packed against their brothers-in-arms in a bronze wall. The sharp clang of metals locking against each other pushed with their leather footfalls. All at once rushing. Cohesive.

Viktor’s thigh screamed, tensing impossibly tight against itself and trying to pull further. The humidity of his own breath condensed against the flat of his face plate. Too quiet and too loud and too humid and too dry. Dizzying contradictions pushing him against the others in his phalanx.

Jayce and Viktor are drafted into the Sacred Band of Thebes — a formidable force in Ancient Greece comprised entirely of lovers that faced Sparta and won.
