The short story "The Million Year Picnic" by Ray Bradbury was originally set on Mars in October 2026. It's the final story of the collection THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES. (More recent editions have shifted the dates forward 30 years.) The original founder of the MYP, Jerry Weist, was a huge Bradbury fan.

The thing about the #RedSox players blaming "analytics" is that both pulling Sonny Gray to avoid the third-time-through penalty and noting that Gray has unusually good third-time-through numbers could be called "analytics", and the Sox being "too reliant" would probably have meant taking door #2.

When I'm scouting for period motels for filming and I want to go beyond the usual suspects, one trick I use is to search eBay for "motel post card [city/town name]." Back in the 1950s-70s especially, it seems like every motel made a postcard for guests, and it's a great way -🧵
