The short story "The Million Year Picnic" by Ray Bradbury was originally set on Mars in October 2026. It's the final story of the collection THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES. (More recent editions have shifted the dates forward 30 years.) The original founder of the MYP, Jerry Weist, was a huge Bradbury fan.

A book with a red and black cover on a wooden chair. The cover reads, "75TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION
THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES
With an introduction by the author
RAY BRADBURY"
It shows a tiny figure in a stark red, white, and black mountainous landscape. There is a gold National Book Award seal.

FYI, from Toocheke. They added a Tapas migration feature.

A screenshot of an email that says

Import Your Tapas.io Comics Into WordPress
You may have seen the news about Tapas shutting down. If you or anyone you know publish there, you’re probably wondering what happens to all of your comics and years of work.

We’ve just added a new import feature to Toocheke Companion (available in version 2.23+) that can move an entire Tapas series into WordPress for you — including episodes, images, thumbnails, and original publish dates.

It keeps everything in order, so you don’t have to manually copy and paste hundreds of pages.

Be amazing if I were to be offered a new lettering gig this week! Weeks and months of “we’ll keep you in mind” or, as is usually the case, my email enquiries to editors being completely ignored, is really beginning to destroy my self-confidence.

Test Your Tools! @blkmkt.net introduced me to the concept of creating a default test illustration that you utilize to cope with anxiety over ruining a new sketchbook or wanting to test out new art supplies but getting stuck on what to draw.

Illustration of Quill in front a vertical stripe tricolor background of yellow, orange and blue. She is leaping forward to the right of the page, winking and holding a presenting pose with her top set of arms while holding various tools including: a large stylus, eraser and protractor ruler tool. Her puffy halter jacker dress mimics the same color pattern in the background in a more saturated hue. The text in front of her says--"Test Your Tools!"

Rave review from Comicsbeat! "Backderf writes (and draws) boldly without shying away from complicated realities. THE DISSIDENTS is essential reading for anyone interested in building a better world."

comicsbeat.com

THE DISSIDENTS is an unflinching look at an eerily familiar past

Derf Backderf’s story of American political cartoonists in the 1910s details a climate of fear, government overreach, and unpopular war.
