“Jaywalker” is a manufactured word. Auto industry PR campaigns invented it in the 1920s to move blame for traffic deaths from drivers onto people crossing the street. It worked so damn well the category still shows up in enforcement data a century later.

For all the AC talk on here people forget it is prohibitively expensive for some people in the US. My compressor died yesterday and it is $20k for a new unit. Of course I can finance and pay off for the next 20 years when the lifespan in FL for a unit is about 12.
