So, my grandparents were visited weekly by the FBI in the '50s. Grandpa did some water & labor rights organizing + was a socialist & athiest. Got on some lists, they say. No jail time, but by the end of it gma ended up in the Oregon Hospital (the insane asylum in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest).

I find it curious when people quote over your posts to make a comment but don’t directly engage with you when you respond to them. It feels like passive aggressive shade. I’m not offended, it’s just an internet way of communicating that I think limits real conversation and community building 🤷🏽‍♀️

Contradictions in human behavior make complete sense once you realize that the motivation for pretty much everything humans do is too avoid being ostracized and to signal to the most powerful groups that you are not a threat. Humans are herd animals. Our social behavior is herd behavior.

The power goes out randomly a lot where I live. It makes no sense. There’s no storm, it’s not extreme heat. Entergy is focused on data center plans but can’t do its basic job. The rest of the city is fine but here it’s monthly. When I say Costa Rica prepared me to live in New Orleans I wasn’t lying
