A gilded statue of a naked Trump has been put on display at the European Parliament. The sculpture, titled “Orange Plague” and also known as “King of Unfairness”, was created by Danish artist Jens Galschiøt. Standing 2.5 meters tall including the pedestal, it is covered in 23-karat gold.

NI was established as a Protestant political entity, functioning as an ethnonationalist project that prioritised the dominance of one community over another. It is currently being dismantled, to be replaced with a single state (Ireland).

that's the big blind spot I think a lot of people have. We're witnessing the abolition of NI, another ethnonationalist state, right now. It's the 21st century. The idea of annexing large chunks of Lebanon, Syria and the ethnic cleansing of Gaza / west bank is not considered acceptable behaviour.

Irish people were driven out by famine too and haven't felt safe in NI for the last 100 years because of death and/or persecution. But we know colonial partition and settler colonialism doesn't work Calum, so we don't repeat the process. it really is that simple.

Well done the Greens. their ruling "Zionism is an ethnonationalist political project, and states that anti-Zionism should not be equated with antisemitism" reminded me of the situation in Northern Ireland. Partition in NI was an ethnonationalist & sectarian political project too.

you're right. for people from the Garvaghy Road, it's not "just 35 old men marching down the road". 21 people died because of the Drumcree parade between 1995-1999 including these 3 kids, the quinn brothers, after the UVF petrol bombed their house.

yes. I think so. "the power to prohibit a parade under Section 11 of the Public Processions Act) have historically remained with the UK Government and the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland" there are some orange parades in Scotland & England too. There was one in bristol recently.
