The House Rules Committee voted 7-4 along party lines on Monday night to defeat plans from Democrats to stop the Trump $1.8 billion 'anti-weaponization' fund, and to prevent Jan. 6 convicts from getting any of that money. All Democrats supported the measure. All Republicans were opposed.

The TRO by its terms was intended only to freeze the status quo so the parties could brief the issue for Judge Brinkema, who had set a hearing for June 12. Obviously DOJ was going to abide by that. This would be a very odd way to announce the fund is dead! Judge Brinkema won’t let it suffice.

This is along the lines of what I have come to think of as the "Uno reverse" model of governance, where you take the same structures used previously for legitimate purposes and flip them to suggest that MAGA/white people/men/etc are actually the most oppressed and deserving of govt assistance
The Justice Department is modeling the program, in part, on a landmark $760 million settlement fund the Obama administration created to compensate Native American farmers and ranchers who were deprived access to federal subsidies for decades, one of those people said. Payments in that settlement came from the Judgment Fund, an uncapped pot of money that does not require congressional approval to make payments and is maintained by the Treasury Department.
