of course, much of what's made by AI and called 'art' is hideous and ontologically deficient. but art's function can't be limited to 'safeguarding humanity.' enshrining this naive ideal of beauty would mean sacrificing modern art's critical function

I am obsessed with literary physical descriptions of Liu Bei having "long ears with lobes that touch the shoulders, long arms that reach past his knees, big eyes that could see backwards past his ears, a complexion as clear as jade, and rich red lips."

This amazing find inspired me to make this wee illustration, I found it very evocative to imagine the early medieval churchyard at Govan could be a hive of activity and craft workers. Not just stone carving but jewellery as well
an illustration of a woman in early medieval clothing working on a piece of shale jewellery, in the top right corner is an enlarged depiction of the piece she is working on- a lump of shale being worked with a hole in the centre perhaps in the process of making a ring

Not an expert on this but without trying to translate it's probably an abbreviation on 'misericordiisque' - the -que being common enough that you'd be expected to substitute it. Likewise above a word that I think would end '-ibus' is just 'ibz'. 'J' started as an ornamental second form of 'i'

Universities UK has announced a target of 50% of students doing work-based learning by 2030. In 2025 HEPI reported that 68% of domestic undergraduates are in paid work in term-time. Can we not hold these two facts in mind simultaneously?

But in this internet subculture, saying completely insane and ridiculous things like this really is considered a form of being smart. It’s a display of pure rationality. You crunched the numbers and, sorry if it shocks or offends, but here are the results. Don’t like it? Take it up with Bayes.

Seems kind of organic to me, the genre invites a weird tone of 'you know about this already' and maybe that makes it more likely to narrow the scope when dealing with Figures. Privileging as you say the anecdotal hook, de-emphasising the big picture narrative
