Many scholars I deeply respect contributed to this survey. I’m struck none took issue with the framing that US schools need “fixing” - as though they’re broken. Tutoring and phonics instruction are good ideas for improving schools. Many schools are already putting those improvements into action.

Don't forget that @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social wants to let the GOP get away with all of this. He said let's turn the page and get on with business. He's on the side of the Nazis if he thinks this kind of thing is acceptable in the United States of America. This can't be allowed to slide. It can't.

I would love to see Trump lift a golden shovel full of dirt in Iowa like he did at the groundbreaking of Foxconn’a multi-billion $ manufacturing plant in Wisconsin back in 2018! … Say, it’s been 8 years, how’s that factory doing now that it’s up and running?

This is why more women don't come forward, and why more rapists aren't jailed. Because mostly-male cops and prosecutors find it more believable that a 20-yr-old would want to have sex with a room full of fraternity brothers than accept she was raped. What ever happened to common fucking sense?

U.S. News & World Report released its newest rankings yesterday. We have fallen. This is straight up disappointing. It's also puzzling.
Their methodology includes 11 continuing metrics and one new one. If you dig into the data, you'll see that we went up in 9 of the 11 prior measures-including our graduation rate, peer assessment, student-faculty ratio, and the earnings of our graduates. We're going to keep analyzing to try to make sense of it.

NYCPS is spending $2,220,180,000 on busing alone this school year That works out to a preposterous $14,801 per bused child, and the level of service is intolerably bad Lease their families a car, have the MTA take over the system, do literally anything else! www.nydailynews.com/2026/09/18/n...
The demonstrators' main demand was for the New York State Legislature to pass, and Gov. Hochul to sign, a law that would allow the city to overhaul school transportation contracts without running afoul of the bus drivers' union.
Speakers acknowledged the wonkiness of their request.
The state bill would preserve some worker protections for bus drivers, effectively eliminating a strike threat while opening the door to a competitive rebidding process with their employers. Those changes, advocates say, would finally allow the city to part ways with yellow bus companies failing to deliver good service.
"The city has been sued, faced a month-long strike, and year after year, been forced to renew contracts it knows harms educational outcomes," State Assemblywoman Yudelka Tapia (D-Bronx), the bill's co-sponsor, said in a statement. "To pass this legislation is a moral imperative our parents and families have fought for for decades."
State Sen. Robert Jackson (D-Manhattan), also a sponsor, added: "We should never ask families and school bus workers to compete for justice when sound public policy can protect both."
