CONTINUED, The Boy From Venus #15 🍄

Panel 1: Audrey and Val are facing one another on the river bank, seemingly in the late afternoon. They're wearing their last respective outfits from the previous episode. Audrey is saying "Well, you live right near the corner store, right? I was thinking, when I get off work ... I could bring over some snacks and we could watch a movie or something."

Panel 2: Val has a strained expression and starts sweating, sucking in her lips, like she is trying really hard to decide what to say.

Panel 3: Audrey holds his hands up and says "Okay, yep, no. That's definitely the NO face. Say no more!"

Panel 4: Val looks to the side with a strained, nervous expression, replying "No, no, Audrey, it's just, I don't think my apartment is ... Ready for visitors."

Panel 5: Audrey tilts his head and asks "Oh? What's up with it?" as Val turns her head away from his, sweating.

Panel 6: Val says "UH," rapidly swinging her head back to face Audrey but with his eyes lagging to the side, giving her time to think.

Panel 7: Val recalls her room, which is an absolute mess, empty pizza boxes, trash bags, socks, unopened mail, miscellaneous chargers, and stains littering the floor. The mattress has no cover, the trash bin is overflowing, and there's a single sound insulating foam panel on the wall behind the computer monitor. A sound of a fly buzzing emanates through the room.

Panel 8: "Black mold," replies Val, finally looking directly at Audrey.

Panel 9: Audrey suddenly leans close to Val and balls his hands with a worried expression, yelling "BLACK MOLD?? Val, you CAN'T BE LIVING THERE!!" Val leans back a bit.

Panel 10: Val gives a thumbs up and a close-eyed nervous smile, saying "No no it's okay. I like ... wear a mask."

Panel 11: Audrey has a comedically sad expression, like a toddler who got told that magic isn't real. Water eyes, tensed chin, as if about to cry.

Panel 12: Val, by contrast, just has her brow furrowed in slight annoyance, asking "What."

Panel 13: Audrey, still watery-eyed, begins speaking in a baby talk voice, saying "My besht fwiend's wivving wiz bwack mowod."

Panel 14: Fisheye lens closeup of Val looking very unamused, brow still furrowed, the setting sun casting a hard shadow on half of the face. She says "Audrey. Audrey you know I hate the V-tuber baby voice."

Panel 15: Audrey raises his head and begins saying into sky, "OOWOWW DA BWACK MOWD IS" and Val interrupts him, hands together in a pleading gesture and eyes shut tight, saying "OKAY OKAY I'll call a mold specialist TODAY. And we can hang out tomorrow. No more ear terrorism."

Panel 16: With her hands still together, Val looks down towards the ground, her pupils hazy, as a bead of sweat rolls down her face. "God I am so f*cked," she thinks.

For reasons moral, pragmatic, and perhaps mostly ancestral, the next black presidency will have to think bigger. To its list of adversaries-which include a renewed white supremacy, a rapacious billionaire class, an energetic Christian nationalism-it must add another, perhaps more formidable than them all: empire.

But for many Arab and Muslim Americans, "America before Trump" meant returning to a time when FBI informants sought to entrap them, when police agencies spied on their mosques, and calling a presidential candidate a Muslim was a slur. Seemingly blind to this trauma, the Harris campaign followed up the Democratic National Convention snub by deploying Bill Clinton to Michigan. There, in the state with the highest concentration of Arab Americans in the country, Clinton told an audience that Israel had been forced "to kill civilians" by Hamas, and that the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea belonged to the Jewish people because "they were there first." Meanwhile, Harris welcomed her endorsement by Dick Cheney, who was not a very popular vice president but was a zealous defender of torturing Muslims.
The cumulative message was not "We don't need your vote." It was "We don't value your life

In 1965, the year of the Voting Rights Act's passage, Coretta Scott King stood before an anti-war rally in Madison Square Garden and rejected survivalist democracy:

Why the invocations of Tubman, the readings of Du Bois, the visits from Hamer? And did the advocates of this collective pedagogy imagine their children rising to heights of power, only to view the darker nations of the world through the same violent lens as their oppressors? And if they did not, if they believed that the "poor and needy" meant those within the empire as well as those without, then what moral mandate does that place upon their children?
And if their children have come only to praise, not check, empire, then why have they come at all?

We are tired of being analyzed, defined and represented by people other than ourselves — or worse yet, not considered at all. We are frustrated by the imposed isolation and invisibility that comes from being told or expected to choose either a homosexual or heterosexual identity. Monosexuality is a heterosexist dictate used to oppress homosexuals and to negate the validity of bisexuality.

Bisexuality is a whole, fluid identity. Do not assume that bisexuality is binary or dougamous in nature; that we must have “two” sides or that we must be involved simultaneously with both genders to be fulfilled human beings. In fact, don’t assume that there are only two genders. Do not mistake our fluidity for confusion, irresponsibility, or an inability to commit. Do not equate promiscuity, infidelity, or unsafe sexual behavior with bisexuality. Those are human traits that cross all sexual orientations. Nothing should be assumed about anyone’s sexuality — including your own.

We are angered by those who refuse to accept our existence; our issues; our contributions; our alliances; our voice. It is time for the bisexual voice to be heard.
