Finally finished writing the hatching chapter--this one was tough to nail but I'm pleased with it (until the next round of revisions, at least). Enjoyed depicting a cute little baby with part of zir eggshell on zir head. Especially since some harrowing stuff will soon happen (but not to the baby)

In VFTDC, Grisira laid an egg 26 years ago--her daughter, Saejura. Fun worldbuilding note: It's not possible for any sapient person to accidentally impregnate another because sex is not how sapient people procreate (and only one of the three sapient species even reproduce to begin with)

I long for a back-to-basics web: Markdown for text, JPEG images, no video, no Javascript or other client-side scripting, writable by a human being with a text editor. Make it as advertising/corporate hostile as possible. And above all keep it *small*. In other words, web like it's 1996 again.

Writing today was slow; this part of the chapter requires me to stop frequently to double-check my knowledge on a few things. Plus I needed to come up with a couple of conlang terms, which takes a while because I'm so picky about how they're constructed and how they sound. But progress is progress!
