Sorry about that, I'm not sure why. Hopefully www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding... will work if anyone else is reading this and having trouble. There's a guide at help.justgiving.com/hc/en-us/art... Some Americans seemed to have switched it to $ & some have stuck with £ & their bank converted it.

>> ShareWhen Kieran Rose announced his prostate cancer diagnosis there was a huge outpouring of sadness, love and gratitude from the Autistic community.

So many stories were shared on social media about how wholly life-changing – or life-saving – Kieran's work as The Autistic Advocate is for so many people around the world.

Kieran has given vast numbers of people the understanding they need to accept themselves and others; to be better people, parents and professionals; or even to still be alive today.Kieran has been, and remains, instrumental in shifting the narrative around autism and Autistic people from pathologisation, disorder and stigma, to difference, disability and hope.

The Autistic Advocate is not just Kieran. His wife, Michelle, works behind the scenes doing admin and everything that makes their life-changing work possible. Their vital work supports the family, including their three children.

Kieran’s capacity is severely curtailed during treatment and convalescence. Meanwhile, bills still have to be paid.Kieran and Michelle give so much to Autistic people, families, and the professionals who support them. Now they need our support too.

Whatever you can give will help relieve some of the financial pressure and help them focus on getting through this as a family. If you aren't in a position to help financially, please share.

" None of this is about me. It's about a collective us. A group of us, diagnosed and undiagnosed who share collective difficulties and experiences; who deserve better than we got, than we are getting. It's about recognising that we are invested in a civil rights movement for Autistic people, that Autistic culture is a valid reality." - Kieran Rose

I've just launched my first on demand webinar: Autistic Resistance & Challenging Neuronormativity in the Therapy Room. There's a gap I kept noticing. Most neuroaffirming training doesn't challenge therapists to go deeper or to understand the ecosystemic and intersectional nature of neurodivergence.

The Autistic Companion: "I appreciate how clearly you lay out the ecosystemic reality Autistic people live in. As someone who spent decades in the military and later in the medical field, I saw firsthand how neuronormativity shapes entire systems long before I had language for it. What you describe about environments, power, and pathologisation matches what many of us have lived without ever being offered accommodations. My own work focuses on the same idea you highlight here — that understanding and autonomy often do more for our wellbeing than any attempt to ‘fix’ us. "It is deeply subversive to live proudly despite being living embodiments of our culture’s long standing ethical failings."

"What makes us subversive is that we are human beings with as much right to be here as anyone else and we are asserting that right. We assert it individually by continuing to try to get an education, earn a living, and live our lives in the face of social oppression. And, more and more, we are asserting it collectively. We get louder and louder as we support one another and gain confidence."

Given that more people acquire neurodivergence as they age, the older the generation then we can assume the greater the rate of neurodivergence, though older generations are less likely to identify that way. It's a sociopolitical identity rather than anything that can be specifically quantified.
