The latest CFSv2 plume for El Niño as of October 7th shows that this El Niño has about a 90% chance to persist into May, 2027 And I don't understand how any model run could show less than 3.4°C for November, unless some magic unicorn comes along.

Tasmania is a great case study of how data centres in Australia are worsening climate change - No real plan for truly new renewable energy - Electrification of heavy industry struggles while big tech breezes through www.afr.com/companies/in...
till, questions remain about Firmus’ electricity demand. Badger and other politicians have also raised questions in parliament over whether Hydro Tasmania will be able to produce enough electricity to meet the needs of all its industrial customers, which include Rio Tinto’s Bell Bay Aluminum and the Boyer Paper Mill.

The paper mill, which employs about 300 people, had to provide credit guarantees to secure an agreement with Aurora Energy in October.

Its chief executive, David Marriner, has previously complained that Hydro Tasmania told him there was not enough power to allow the company to switch from coal-fired energy to electricity at competitive prices. Boyer wanted 45 megawatts of power, Winter told state parliament in March. Marriner declined to comment.

Chris Bowen to begin Cop31 climate summit president's role remotely
Chris Bowen's role as president for negotiations at the Cop31 climate summit in Turkey later this year will kick off remotely.
With the fuel crisis raging and Bowen giving daily press conferences on the government's response, the climate change and energy minister said he would not fly to Berlin next week for the Petersberg Climate Dialogue, an annual meeting of representatives from about 40 countries.
A spokesperson for the minister said he "considers his travel carefully" and would not fly for the meeting hosted by the German climate action ministry on Tuesday and Wednesday.
"In this instance he will take advantage of the virtual attendance and continues to engage closely with all his international counterparts.
Australia will also not be represented at ministerial level at the first global conference on transitioning away from fossil fuels in Colombia starting next Friday.
