A small counterweight to the general collapse of print is that printing technology has developed to the point where almost any outfit can make stuff that is visually stunning. Thought prompted by the new Works In Progress, which looks like a million bucks. (Shameless plug, as I have a piece in it.)
Cover of the current Works In Progressive features a curvy closeup on ine of those Kingfishers with the band around its neck so it can't eat the fish it's just caught. The bird's head and long neck are coming from the top and the silvery fish is spilling out of the white frame around the page at the bottom left. Double spread shows a beautiful 19th century map of Paris. Spread shows a tangled mass of rose-like flowers and buds with two gold and salmon carp-like fish swimming around them. The image spills off the page and tumbles across the bottom of the other page. Puzzle pages at the back open up in a triple-truck.

Neiman Marcus closed its downtown Dallas flagship on Wednesday. The store played a notable role in the history of desegregation in Dallas. Previously, Black shoppers across the US could enter department stores, but they weren't allowed to try on clothes without adhering to certain conditions. 🧵

I think one reason, and a grim one, that energy-limiting diseases get so little attention (aside from Covid denialism) is that it’s hard to capitalize on those of us with them. We are mostly very poor because our working ability is limited, we have little buying power and thus, little lobbying power.

Called Ciscomani's office to ask that he hold ICE accountable. He claims he's committed to our safety, but he's allowing ICE to brutalize people every single day. He's using our tax dollars to aid and abet ICE's violence. @captmarkkelly.bsky.social @gallego.senate.gov @joannamendoza.com
