Dolly Parton's legacy lives on in the millions of children encouraged to discover the joy of reading. Her Imagination Library supported @theclpe.bsky.social's Closing the Vocabulary Gap project by gifting children books to enjoy at home, alongside copies used in their early years settings.
Graphic featuring a teacher’s quote in large purple text: “The big impact is children picking up books and exploring on their own. I think there’s more of a love for reading now. The children are a lot more excited about wondering, ‘what new book do we have today?’ and ‘what new book are we going to look at as a whole class?’, so they are responding a lot more positively to wanting to hear a story and wanting to share it with their friends.” The quote is from the Closing the Vocabulary Gap: Project evaluation report by Jonathan Buzzeo, Dan Muir and Rakhee Patel, Institute for Employment Studies, 2023.
