It's hard because I often feel that it's a waste of time because it doesn't generate income or directly help someone else. I don't know how to self care without feeling guilty and selfish. It's a work in progress.

Hoping that once the kids are in school, I can set aside some dedicated writing time for myself. I have fics I want to finish, and plot bunnies gnawing at the bars of their enclosure. I would really like to go back and give my first couple fics a serious revision too.

L&D was so locked down that I never saw another person other than the nurses, and I heard one baby cry while doing a lap with the bassinet in the hall. I will never ever forget the sheer terror of my pregnancy/early baby days.

Two days ago I was looking at 10k races for the fall once I complete my training program. Last night I went to the hospital and left with a referral to a spine surgeon for an MRI. I am a disaster.

The fun thing about finally getting a hearing test is proving to everyone who dismissed me over the years that I actually do have hearing loss, and I'm not just an asshole who is ignoring you. The less fun part is I need hearing aides at age 39 😅

I've had to unfriend a few fans lately, all for the same reason. They made ridiculing, unkind, and in some cases outright cruel comments about pictures I posted of young women cosplaying Jessica.
More than a person, Jessica is a state of mind. To play Jessica, you need self -confidence, a sense of humor, and a Jessican -attitude-. It's so much easier to take my kids out to do things now that they're a little bigger. Even with my younger son's severe food allergies, we're able to go out as long as it's not a food centric activity, because he knows not to put everything in his mouth and not accept any food from strangers.

Nothing feels worse than realizing my kid was trying to do the things I was gently encouraging him to try to make me happy, when he was really just miserable and scared. He wanted to go home, and I couldn't see it until we were in the parking lot and he broke down. Fucking awful.

I feel stupid being sad about having no friends because I'm married. But having a romantic partner doesn't erase years of rejection and "growing apart" that only means leaving me, specifically, behind. There's something fundamentally broken in me, and I just need to accept that it can't be fixed.
