The legislature did a bait and switch on us with no significant debate or clarity. All because people bitch and moan about property taxes. They gave you a $300 decrease on property taxes and at least a 1.5% local income tax increase.

I checked my registration and saw there are two ballot questions this year. One question will change our state’s constitution to eliminate bail options to defendants based on a judge’s decision.Think long and hard before you allow the leadership of this state to change the constitution.I’m voting no

Voters would then be asked a yes or no question:

"Shall the Constitution of the State of Indiana be amended to provide that a person charged with an offense other than murder or treason is not entitled to bail if: (1) the proof is evident or the presumption strong; and (2) the state proves by clear and convincing evidence that no release conditions will reasonably protect the safety of any other person or the community."

Voter approval of the amendment would mark one of the most significant changes to Indiana's bail system in decades.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that the 9/11 issue of the Onion made a huge difference in my life. I was 21, alone in London & a family friend had died in one of the towers ("missing" at the time, ofc). Everywhere I went people heard my accent & wanted to talk about it. I never knew what to say.
