I posted a while back when we first started installing the solar power system here at Raven's Nest. The work has been complete for a while. All of the shut offs, disconnects, switches, batteries, inverter / charger, cabinets cabling etc is done and the system is online. We have geothermal heat >>>

Liz and I were hiking the other day and came across another Lynx (we had seen one in the fog the day before). This one looks really odd, looks dimorphic in terms of markings. Reminds me of some of the photos of domestic cats that are part tabby and part something else. Looked healthy though >>

The other day during one of our rainy hikes Liz was giving me "the look" - about the massive timber rattler in the trail. So we just backed off and waited and it moved on down the hill. Liz is not as comfortable with them as I am. It was fun catching her expression though 😊

So my take away from the news cycle lately is that in 20 US states if a person voluntarily consumes alcohol or drugs they are essentially deemed to have consented to sex. I wonder if some of the people who passed these laws would feel the same way if it were their son who was assaulted.

Time at Raven's Nest always feels like a vacation, a get-away. That's how this place was designed of course, as a resort vacation place. My property up here mostly involves walking trails higher up the ridge where there are some clearings and then taking a loop back to the house. I never tire of it.

At this elevation the forest is mostly spruce and fir, but in some of the clearings up on the ridge there are maple, ash and yellow birch trees plus some odds and ends of low growth especially blackberries. These deciduous trees are starting to turn colors now.

We went to this nice restaurant for lunch. Opened at 11:30am. Place was empty pretty much. They said the crowds come between 12:30 and 2:30. I hoped it was not a bad sign that they were empty. It was not - food was delicious and service excellent.
