I have said before and will say again that it is such a loss that we no longer get covers of this caliber for fantasy books. This art is by Jean-Léon Huens. These covers are for the Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. They lit my imagination on fire as a kid.

So much artistic awe is looking at someone else’s work and thinking: “wow, I couldn’t do *this*” as you marvel at their choices. The appeal of AI art is that you get the same feeling but without the “wow.” It’s more like “I couldn’t do this, and I wouldn’t, and it doesn’t make any sense.”

I made so many of these tea light tea cups and I thought they were so smart and cute but I just did a whole weekend sale and no one even said they were adorable, can you believe it?

I always take pictures of projects before the bisque firing but fail to post them because they’re not “done”… and then by the time everything’s finished I’m over looking at pictures of them! Like, if u want to see them, go look at them in the world, the picture isn’t the thing anymore 🙃

One thing I almost always change when I am copyediting something is the phrase "the ways in which." In most cases you can simply say "how," which has the benefit of being very clear and direct (though a potential drawback is making the writer and their subject seem less mysterious and alchemical.)
