This summer I wrote a review for Kathryn Fuller-Seeley and Frank Thompson's new book "The First Movie Studio in Texas: Gaston Méliès's Star Film Ranch," a thoroughly engaging read and one I hope inspires new scholarship into early localized filmmaking www.tandfonline.com/eprint/DVPIZ...

Both Dolly Parton and Tim Curry had such a genuine enthusiasm for performing that it was impossible not to love them for it, there were things more highly and lowly regarded in their bodies of work but both of them threw themselves into everything because it was pure joy for them and that rules

I started my PhD program with an eight week old at home, sole income being my doctoral stipend, in a history program, in Knoxville, TN. And every month we got a new book to read to my son, free, mailed to us, so my kid, my kids, grew up in rooms full of books even when I had no money. That's Dolly.

So much to be horrified by in this story, but I was stopped short by imagining the fatal damage that could be done by using AI in the course "Know Your Recreational Drugs."
Paragraph reading: "Ohio State said it will offer new general education courses and help faculty adapt existing courses to incorporate AI. The university will now require students to take an AI skills seminar, and it will incorporate workshops into existing framework like the First Year Seminar program. The seminars are optional one-credit courses tailored to first-year students in specialized subjects like Fantasy Worldbuilding in Television, Know Your Recreational Drugs and soon, AI."
