In 2022, undoc. immigrants paid $96.7 BILLION in fed/state/local taxes. ProPublica found via IRS data that the 25 richest US billionaires paid $13.6B over *5 years* or just $2.72B/yr. The Right says undoc. immigrants are parasites we need to deport. 🙄 Don't need that ~$100B/yr in taxes I guess?

The guy who defaced Horseshoe Bend in AZ got a $350 fine but made bank off the attention. He even bragged about that fact on stream. So there needs to be tougher laws specifically for clout goblins b/c current laws don't deter them. Mandatory minimum of 1 yr in jail, all earnings garnished.

As the son of an immigrant, it would have been nice to know about all these incentives the republicans have said we were entitled to. The only thing that was entitled was jail, deportation and CSP taking us from my father. I didn’t get any benefits until two years after I left the Army. Fuck drump!

I support fighting misinfo but this is NOT the right way to do it. Not removing ppl from a misinfo list even after they've actually done as you've asked & deleted their errant posts b/c you want to keep shaming them in perpetuity is petty, vindictive, dishonest & makes your list less credible.

Had to deal with a persistent sales person from Bell who caught me outside doing car maintenance. Came back 3 times to get me switch ISPs. Personal flaw: not wanting to offend ppl when I NEED to be assertive. Need to get it thru my head that while sales ppl deserve politeness, they're not friends.

I went into Netflix's "The Electric State" almost blind with no expectations, so I didn't hate it. But after reading this passage from the original graphic novel (see image ALT text), I realized just how badly Netflix missed the mark. I'd still like a Herman action figure or model kit though.

In the foreground, a rotting corpse sits in a chair, still wearing a neuro-caster device. The neuro-caster's status lights glow red In the background, Michelle stands next to Skip in his Kid Kosmo robot drone body in front of a darkened house. A passage from the book:

When Skip came to get me in Soest, the city was falling apart. I had just seen Miss Styles in the house across the road get dragged out and shot in the street by a group of armed men. Ted had been down on the riverbank for a week, Amanda was long gone, and my black heart lay broken and discarded somewhere on Soest's desolate streets.

I hadn't eaten in days. Not that there wasn't any food— the pantry was full of canned food and old pasta— but I think I had decided to die. I can't really remember, but I do believe that's what I had planned to do.

I don't know how Skip found the Kid Kosmo drone, or the toy for that matter, but when that yellow robot stood there on the driveway with the toy cradled in its arms— the same toy I had given my brother nine years earlier— I understood immediately. "Skip, is that you?" I said, and the yellow robot nodded.

"That's a kickass Kid Kosmo you've found."

Then I sat down on the driveway and wept. Like I said, Ted had been down on the riverbank for a week. He was sprawled beneath a beach umbrella, and when we left Soest in his old Corolla, the vultures had already eaten most of his body. But below the horn of the neurocaster, his mouth was still moving like he was dreaming.

.xyz is an odd choice. As far as I know, the .xyz top level domain generally doesn't have a good reputation. In my own experience, the majority of the time I've seen .xyz used was in spam and phishing URLs.

Be aware of money-for-insulin scams! Identical or nearly identical posts from random identities posted on random Tumblr blogs & random sites that impersonate blogging sites, blog posts. Image search shows year-old re-used photo of glucose LCD monitor. Account: varhl∙bsky∙social #scam

Image showing evidence of a scam. Evidence include Google image search results showing an identical year old photo of a glucose monitor LCD screen that's been reused by a number of different identities on different Tumblr blogs and fake blogging sites and blog posts. All the posts ask for money for insulin and the posts are nearly identically worded (even the same emojis are used) save for the dollar amounts.

I know the material reasons for the rise of fascism. I also think another reason - which doesn’t get talked about as much because it’s embarrassing that humans can be that naive - is that when you are financially comfortable but bored, abstract cruelty can give you a sense of purpose.
